Yard Sightings in Leisure World

I took a walk around the yard this morning to take advantage of the beautiful weather we are having.  Now that Doris and Julie are back in Alberta I feel it's my duty to keep them informed.
Today will be around 25 degrees, a little cooler than it's been lately.
This is a good sign.
Those little green marbles in the flower blossoms are new grapefruits are starting to grow. As with most citrus fruit, the longer it stays on the tree, the sweeter it becomes but the tree needs to be picked clean once the new fruit appears.

We're keeping our fingers crossed, hoping that we have some oranges on our new trees when we return next year. Our little 4 foot tall Washington Navel tree is covered with these fragile new buds.

Some type of colourful flying insect on our Mexican Fencepost Cactus. Compared to Alberta there are not a lot of pesky insects here. However, those that can survive the extreme heat of the desert do tend to be quite unusual and, like the cactus, they usually have some type of defence mechanism.

Again this year, our Hedgehog Cactus is sprouting flowers as we prepare to leave for the summer. The flowers don't last. The rabbits love em.

The new patio set looks mighty inviting. I might have a snooze here later this afternoon.

  2. I've been playing around with the saturation and AV settings on the 5D. I like the soft-contrast look but don't want to overdo it.
