New York, New York

Amy and Stephen have recently moved to New York. For the time being they are leasing a two bedroom apartment in the heart of the Financial District. It was inevitable that we would pay them a visit once they settled in.

The Statue of Liberty was the first recognizable icon we spotted as we flew into the city.

The cab ride from La Guardia took us over the Brooklyn Bridge.

Amy's neighborhood. That fortress-like building in the center of the photograph is the Federal Reserve Building. Apparently, over 400 Billion in gold is stored in the vault 80 feet below street level.

Everywhere you look you see a mixture of old and new.

 Cheese and cold meat appetizer followed by main course meals of pork shoulder and sliced steak.

 Tribeca district has some of the highest priced rental properties in NYC.

 In most cities street performers play guitars or violins or maybe even trumpets.... In New York this guy hauls out a baby grand piano to entertain passer-bys and sell his CDs.

 Under Grand Central Station, down at track level, there is a famous and busy Oyster Bar.

At the Ed Sullivan Theater.
Look, it's that Canadian Paul Shaffer and the CBS Orchestra.

Luckily the police car was empty when I stood on the back bumper to get a picture of Broadway near West 53rd.

Needless to say, we had a great time visiting with Amy and Stephen and we plan on doing it again while there is the opportunity.
